Katsina, Nigeria– The Public Complaint and Anti-Corruption Commission (PCACC) of Katsina State has taken significant steps to strengthen its collaboration with the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC). During a visit to the NSCDC Katsina Command, the Executive Chairman of PCACC, Justice Lawal Garba Abdulkadir (Rtd), highlighted the agency's commitment to combating corruption and enhancing public accountability.

Justice Abdulkadir outlined the commission’s origins, noting its establishment in 2018 under the administration of Hon. Aminu Bello Masari, and its formal inauguration by the current governor, His Excellency Governor Dikko Umar Radda, Ph.D. He emphasized that while the commission is still in its early stages, it has made considerable strides in establishing itself as a prosecuting body, particularly in the areas of intelligence and investigation.

“Our commission is tasked with investigating bribery, corruption, and public complaints against individuals, whether they are public servants, private citizens, or businesses,” Justice Lawal Garba Abdulkadir stated. He also stressed the importance of collaborating with other security agencies, including the NSCDC, DSS, and police, to strengthen the commission’s investigative capabilities.

In his remarks, Ibrahim Baba Numan Bako, who represented NSCDC Commandant Jamilu I. Indabawa, praised the establishment of the PCACC as a crucial development for Katsina State. He commended the commission's efforts to empower citizens to report injustices and emphasized the importance of public education in combating corruption. “It is essential that the public is informed and engaged in the fight against corruption,” Bako said.

Bako also highlighted the need for the PCACC to build public trust by handling complaints with confidentiality and efficiency, urging the agency to promote whistleblowing and ensure the protection of informants. He expressed confidence in the partnership between the NSCDC and PCACC, stating that their collaboration would play a pivotal role in upholding justice and accountability in the state.

The visit marks a significant step towards a more integrated approach to combating corruption in Katsina State, with both the PCACC and NSCDC committed to fostering a just and accountable society.
